The Concept

The Kamikaze Chef® is a unique dining experience, combining the challenge of cooking with mystery ingredients with the fun of socializing. Guests sign up to bring a food item chosen from a list of food categories (protein, starch, vegetable, etc), but keep the specific item a secret until the night of the dinner. The Kamikaze Chef picks a theme for the dinner, revealing it at the time the guests arrive. She then creates a full meal using the ingredients brought by the guests, as well as items from the pantry and fridge, sticking with the theme chosen for the evening. It is a great opportunity for networking, socializing, and picking up a few new recipe ideas.

The Kamikaze Chef is an original concept by (newly) Chicago resident, Colleen Egan. She began cooking in 2001 as an effort to get healthy, and her passion for cooking has only increased over the years. She developed her skills through trial and error, lots of practice, and trying out her recipes on willing participants. Colleen is completely self-taught and has never worked in a restaurant. The Kamikaze Chef evolved out of a love for entertaining friends and the thrill of a challenge. Colleen is available for private dinners in your home, and she also had the privilege of cooking in The Nashville Farmers’ Market Grow Local Kitchen in 2012. These dinners are perfect settings for friendly gatherings, team building, and special celebrations, and she hopes you will join her for one soon!
