Attending a Kamikaze Chef party is a one-of-a-kind experience. Here are the answers to some of the most frequently asked questions from guests:
How important is it that I arrive right at the start of the event?
Since I decide on what to cook based on the ingredients you bring, it is important to have all the food arrive by the start time of the event. If you are running late, please contact the host of the event and let them know what you are bringing and how late you will be. That way I can start to plan how I will use your ingredient once it arrives. If you know in advance that you will be over 20 minutes late, please try to arrange to get your ingredient to the host prior to the day of the event (non-perishable item) or send it with another guest.
What does it mean to bring “two servings” of my ingredient?
I ask that each guest bring at least two servings of their ingredient because I try to prepare the meals so that everyone gets a taste of everything. That becomes difficult if I have 1 apple or 1 steak to serve to 16 guests. Although “two servings” doesn’t always fit the ingredient, it is the best way to describe an amount that is enough, but not too much, of each ingredient (I also try not to be wasteful!). Please bring two servings of the SAME ingredient, not one serving of two different proteins, for example.
I’m coming as part of a couple and have been asked to bring another item. Do I still need to bring two servings of each?
For the same reasoning above, it is important to still bring two servings of each ingredient. When it comes down to it, each person should bring two servings of one ingredient. If you are part of a couple, that means you each bring two servings of one ingredient. Some events ask that you double the amount of your ingredient if you are coming as a couple or with a guest. That would mean you”d bring a total of four servings between the two of you.
If you are bringing more than one person with you, I encourage you to share the invitation with one of the other guests so they can sign up separately for a different ingredient.
I’m allergic to fish/dairy, what do I need to do?
Please alert your host, or contact me, as early as possible of any food allergies or dietary restrictions. I will make every effort to accommodate these requests.
